In honor of St. Faustina on the 80th anniversary of her death, the first Congress of St. Faustina in Lodz will be held on 4-5 October under the motto: “from her will come forth the spark” (Diary, 1732). These are the words of Jesus recorded in the Diary, referring to Poland, which celebrates the centenary of independence this year. Representatives of parishes of Divine Mercy and St. Faustina, as well as persons to whose hearts the Apostle of Divine Mercy is close to, were invited to participate in this meeting. Archbishop Grzegorz Ryś, the Archbishop of Łódź, Archbishop Władysław Ziółek, Bishop Jan Zając, Bishop Ireneusz Pękalski, Bishop Krzysztof Wętkowski, many priests, Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy, Merciful Jesus and the Missionary Sisters of Charity have declared their willingness to participate. The program, beyond discussion panels, includes a walk in the footsteps of St. Faustina in Lodz, a theatrical performance and a concert of the band Lumen. The Congress will be held in the parish of St. Faustina in Lodz, at ul. Niepodległości 1. It will conclude with the traditional procession with relics of the Apostle of Divine Mercy to the archcathedral in Lodz, where Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio, Apostolic Nuncio to Poland, on behalf of Pope Francis, will put on the pallium on the Archbishop Grzegorz Ryś, the metropolitan of Lodz.
Patronage of the Congress was taken by: Archbishop Grzegorz Ryś, metropolitan bishop of Lodz, M. Petra Kowalczyk, General Superior of the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy, Marshal of the Lodz province and Mayor of the city of Lodz, the Patron Saint of which is St. Faustina.
